I was excited to get into book 3, but it fizzled quickly. It took me a month to get through. It wasn't that it didn't have action because it did. Lots. Katelyn is still away from Haven with her two best friends, school history teacher, Rune, and Dylan. Now they must save the city of Breakwater which is Dylan's and Rune's hometown from Prince Raserion. They decide to make a plea to Prince Varion of the North, Raserion's brother. Ruby and the teacher are left behind to return to Haven to warn them as the other's head north. They hope to offer Varion Breakwater so he'll defend it. Once there we find out Varion has been missing for twelve years. We also find out the unlikely person who is Varion in disguise. This is where I lost some interest. I wasn't happy by this choice. Plus, once he remembers who he is, he changes. And I'm not quite sure how I feel about him knowing how he treated his people in the past. Kat once again saves the day but by the end it just her and Dylan against the world. I hope they can work together without killing each other in book 4!
The Last Stand

This is the final book of the series. This one starts with a fight against Rune of all people. It's got a good ending, but character-wise, I feel as though they didn't grow as much as I'd hoped. Prince Varion has an attitude one minute with Kat and then tries to play nice but it's fake. He can't be who he wants. Kat could be more resolved at this point. It's been two years since her hour ey began and I feel like there were missed opportunities for her to grow her abilities. Dylan is Dylan which is fine, although we do see more of his softer side in this one.
All in all. Give this series a go. It's got the action, suspense, and mystery anyone would like!
