Dani is starting circus school in a place called O.Z. which her great Aunt Dottie (😉) got her into. She wants to specialize in high wire. She's also excited at the potential to be chosen for the end of the year show.
Cai, a secret shape shifting tiger, is placed with Dani to sabatage her audition. Except he, and his tiger, are falling for her. A man named Marvel is setting up an illusion in order to steal "ruby slippers" that can gain them access to wherever the Wizard is keeping Marvel's wife. Cai is a part of the illusion to steal then slippers and the end of the year show is when it will take place.
Here's where the story goes down hill. They elude to keeping Dani safe which is why they don't want her in the show. They don't want Cai with her to keep her safe, even though flying monkeys are attacking her. But then, she's picked and no more mention of the show, the slippers, or how she's going to be safe. Nothing! She rides off into Christmas break and there's no mention of a follow-up book. Nada. Yes, it's a cute love story, but come on! It's like the story just died on the table. It could've ended so sweetly. Oh well, I'll never know what happens to Glinda or the show...
