The Series gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥
Chosen
❤️❤️❤️❤️💔

This is book 1. Honestly, I had no idea what I'd be getting into with this book series. I found it on Hoopla. It's labeled separately or as the trilogy. The cover art is... interesting, and I would NOT judge this series by the covers or titles.
This first book is about a girl named Jael. She's named after the Biblical heroine Jael who killed Sisera when he fell asleep in her tent. She killed him with a tent stake. The author made an awesome storyline from this. Her character Jael is a descendant from the Biblical character and is the Chosen One. Her family is Amish but her parents and Jael are part of the shunned community. They are shunned because she is prophecied to kill the Amish Bloodsuckers who are vampires that control the community. She is to be the one to free them from the control of the vamps. Neat storyline, right?
This first story shows Jael coming into her abilities and learning to kill vampires. She also befriends a Native American tracker who is part wolf. His legacy is supposed to help the vampires find the Chosen One. He doesn't want that life. He wants to help Jael instead.
Shunned
❤️❤️❤️💔
Book 2. Jael finds herself without her parents and an uncle on a mission leaving her to go back to the Amish community that shunned her parents and uncle. Assimilation into the community is difficult. She wants to get to know her grandparents and make some friends, but she also is there to find out what the Bishop is up to. She is allowed to continue through school where she meets Gabe a boy who dreamed about her and painted a picture of her before meeting her. With her boyfriend, cousin, a priest descended from Tola (a friend of the original Jael), and finally her uncle Jael may actually be able to find out what's going on in Loon Lake.
This story is very well interwoven with the. Biblical story of Jael and the possibility of what came after. I really like it even though the story itself is simple. The Bible talks about these people who crossbred with fallen angels and we're called Nephilim. I've often wondered if these ancient stories of vampires, werewolves, fairies, sasquatch, giants, etc were a part of that community. We may never know...🤔 Anyway, I digress. I'm really curious to see where the story ends.
Reckoning
❤️❤️❤️❤️💔
🔥
With her two best friends in town, her boyfriend, her uncle, a Catholic Priest, and her Amish cousin, Jael begins to plan how to take down the Bishop. The Amish vampire community is growing quickly as the Bishop recruits by coersion. The entire group is needed to take down the enemy as well as more than one method.
This final book is full of love, action, and suspense! Jael has a lot of pressure on her shoulders. She handles herself well. I like that she still has teenage moments of impatience and irritation for her situation. I also really like Gabe, her boyfriend. He's exactly what she needs. He's her opposite, and it works for them.
I recommend this series for anyone looking for something unexpected and different and fun. I have been pleased by this especially with the cover art which has grown on me! 👍👍
I want to add that this is not listed as a Christian book, however there is many references to the Bible, verses, and ways of life for the Amish.
