Happily Ever After by Susan May Warren

Happily Ever After

Susan is really great at getting to the core of a person's feelings and how it relates to God's will for them. This is yet another story of hers that I liked.

In this story, we have a writer with the pen name Reece Clark, but his real name is Joe. Reece is a huge success in the writing world. Joe the man is a recluse though when he's not obligated to any appearances. He is a world traveler just trying to escape the shame of his family. His dad left him and his mother after his brother was born with Downs Syndrome. Joe takes off and feels obligated to financially care for his brother. Eventually, Joe the wanderer decides to go visit his brother in the small town of Deep Haven, Minnesota. There he runs into Mona.

Mona is struggling to find peace and forgiveness of herself. Opening a bookstore is her dream, but the location is a serious fixer upper. She unknowingly hired Joe, her favorite author, as a handyman to fix her new place.

I like this story a lot because it has the feels, anger, frustration, hope, angst, love, betrayal, along with misunderstandings and lies. Joe and Mona are everything each other needs but are too stuck in their past to move forward. Sometimes you just need to take the step forward.

This book has lots of great perfectly spaced scriptures and thoughtful moments. Give it a go especially if you struggle with unforgiveness whether with someone else or yourself and you need inspiration.
