Falling For You by Holly Stevenson

Falling For You: Small Town Sweet Romance
A Pine Ridge Romance, book 3

By Holly Stevenson

❤️❤️❤️❤️💔

Nolan is a savy hospitality manager opening a new resort. Olivia is secretly very rich and can't tell anyone per her grandmother's contract. She won't see her inheritance from her deceased parents for a long time unless she keeps to the conditions of the clause. She must either fall in love (for real love and not the kind where the guy just wants her cash), work for two years, or turn 28. At this rate she figures she'll be 28 before she sees her inheritance.

Her biggest problem? She has feelings for her new boss, Nolan. And, she has a boyfriend who is lazy and unappreciative. Her feelings for Nolan conflict her, especially when she thinks her friend Savannah is dating him. Savannah has other plans hoping to get the boyfriend out of the picture so she can set up Nolan and Olivia when she finds out he has similar feelings for Olivia.

This is called a sweet romance and it is. It's a quick light read for you if you want a clean romance. This is book 3 in the series, and I grabbed it because it was free. However, I found you can read it as a stand alone. I liked the characters. Nolan seems like a gentleman who pours his heart and soul into things and people. Just a genuinely good guy. Olivia, being filthy rich could act like a B if she wanted to. She could act spoiled and self centered, but she's not. She's actually very sweet and kind and generous. If only all romances were so easy... I'll probably check out other books by this author.

Got any recommendations? Throw them my way!

For Now and Forever by Sophie Love

For Now and Forever
The Inn at Sunset Harbor

By Sophie Love

❤️❤️❤️💔

Emily waited 7 years for her boyfriend to propose, but when he doesn't she has a moment of clarity and a breakdown. She breaks up with him and quits her deadend job and leaves New York behind for the vacation home her father owned.

He abandoned it just like his family after her sister died. The house is in need of serious TLC, and what was meant as a weekend to get away to find her next step turned into a long extended trip.

She meets Daniel the caretaker of the place when she unexpectedly shows up. He's a bit surly, but it's only because he's quiet and she intruded on his solitude. But he can't help but fall for her and helps her fix up her childhood home in hopes she'll stay.

This book was ok. It wasn't bad, just not too exciting especially when it came to Daniel. I wanted more from his character. He's so secretive. I just felt as though we could've gotten more from him. Emily's character seems to grow as she finds her footing. She also goes from being a pushover to learning how to stand her ground when there's something she wants.

I think most of us can appreciate the need to run away sometimes when life gets rough and messy. Unfortunately, it rarely works out that you can get away. Oh well.

There are several more books to this series. For now, I'm going to hold off and see if it draws me back.

Untamed by Shirleen Davies

Untamed
Eternal Brethren Series

By Shirleen Davies

❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥
❌❌

This is Wrangler's book. He's been moody ever since his ex girlfriend from ten years ago shows up in town. He's even more moody when he finds out she's staying. He's moody because he hasn't stopped loving her and had been in denial since he ran out on her all those years ago with a lame excuse to sew his wild oats. He knew he messed up, and all he wants to do is win her back.

Becca has secrets. The first is that she ran from her last job and boyfriend because she found evidence of his criminal dealings with cartels. The second and biggest secret is her nine year old son, Jamie. She never told Wrangler about him. She tried, but the Navy would release his information to her since she wasn't a contact. She also decided to not tell his parents or siblings. It was easier to accept Wranglers dismissal and move away to hide than to tell his family. She gave up everything for her son.

To say Wrangler is angry about news of his son is an understatement. But now he sees a light in the dark. A possible future with Becca and their son. Of course since she has evidence and Wrangler is part of the Eternal Brethren faux biker gang, their son is kidnapped with hopes of exchanging the information for the boy.

I wasn't as crazy about this one. Becca seemed a bit standoffish to me. I just couldn't connect with her character. I did like Jamie and his innocence. It's also a good reminder that kids can so easily be taken or manipulated into leaving. As a mom, I'm not sure how well I'd handle the situation. Becca seemed too quiet. But I'm a momma bear and heads would roll😆. I did love Wrangler's insistence on becoming a family, wanting dual custody, and forgiveness for his past. It disayed a humble attitude that I appreciated.

This book didn't necessarily have the typical sex scenes either. It was more in dreams and fantasy. There was still details but not as much, I don't think.

One more in this series! I hope it's good!

Adam by Chris Keniston

Adam
Farraday Country, book 1

By Chris Keniston

❤️❤️❤️❤️

Meg high tails is quick from her disaster of a fiance just minutes shy of her wedding when FBI agents knock on the door of her dressing room. Turns out her fiance is a serious crook and stole money from lots of people including Meg.

She's so angry she doesn't even change. She grabs her bag and drives off into the sunset ending up in nowhere Texas. When she breaks down a local veterinarian, Adam, helps her get to town. She hides out and forms friendships within town especially with Adam. They finally go on a date which ends up with Meg possibly in a lot of trouble. Neither are sure where their new romance will go from here.

This book was a good clean romance that was quick to read. I've had it in my Amazon Kindle as a free download for probably a year. I don't know what took me so long to read it. I love Adam's character (his morals are great, and he's a gentleman). Meg seems skittish, but I could understand holding back from people especially if you thought your crazy ex would do something to you. I also love a good love at first sight type of romance especially when you can't act on it right away. Cue the suspense! Anyway, it's a great read. Hunky vet + spunky red head, and more books in this series with even more hunky Farraday brothers and a sister to all find love. What's not to enjoy? This is my first Chris Keniston book, and I may see what else there is from this author even outside this series.

Come back for more!

Forgotten Rules by Eliah Greenwood

Forgotten Rules
Rules #4

By Eliah Greenwood

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥
❌❌

Oowwee. Do you want teen angst? Do you want to feel all the feels? Do you want to fall in love with another brother's best friend story? You found it.

I jumped into this series at book 4, but it is okay. The first three books are based on Kass's cousin, and this one is all about Kass and Will, her brother's best friend.

This poor girl has to deal with a schmuck father, lying brother and mother, and her deceptive secret ex (also her brother's friend). Why not add another secret romance? Gotta keep it from the controlling brother, right?

Ok, Kass's brother and his friends are involved in a fight club type thing in which they win big bucks. Everyone thinks Kass is clueless, but she's not. Will begins to take an interest in her but is unwilling to jeopardize his friendship or Kass's for that matter. So, now you see where the feels come in. Add in drama from her cousin, her sinister "best friend," other boys who like her and you have A LOT of drama.

💥This book is listed under teen/young adult, BUT there is a lot of sex and talk of it. I know, I know, but I want to put the warning out there for our younger readers.

I really actually loved the plot and the back and forth between Will and Kass. I'm looking forward to the next book, since this ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. I also love when the characters figure out their breaking points and finally grab onto what they need with gusto. You know how you read a book and the mood of the book puts you into that mood. Yep, this one put me in moods as I went. Frustration with Will, face smacks at Kass, and eyerolls at others. I'm ready for the next book. Now I must wait...

The Season Of You And Me by Robin Constantine

The Season Of You And Me

by Robin Constantine

❤️❤️❤️❤️💔

I chose this book looking for something a little different. I didn't want the typical perfect characters to read about. Muscles are great, don't get me wrong. And Bryan has them but he also has a wheelchair.

Cassidy is visiting her dad's family for the summer and meets Bryan. She's using the summer as a way to find her self-esteem again since breaking up with her cheater ex boyfriend. Her and Bryan quickly become friends at work. Both are attracted to eat other. He is worried that his chair will be a deterrent and she'll only want to be friends. His experience has been that girls can't handle his disability.  But Cass isn't bothered by it at all. She's so sweet to him.

When the ex comes to win her back stuff goes down, feeling are hurt, and Cass has a choice to make. Stay with Bryan who makes her feel special? Or return home to the boy trying to win her back?

I really really really wanted to give this book 5 hearts, but there's was a lot of talk about hook ups and one night stands and using "summer girls" (those just visiting the beach town on vacation). I understand sex in high school, but using people for it is not my thing. As a Christian, I still don't condone it. So, if your like me this book may turn you off with all the references, however, the story line between Bryan and Cassidy is sweet. It's a friend to boyfriend story. It's an overcomer story. It's a don't let circumstances stand in your way story. And it's a don't stay with someone who wronged you story. Both Cass and Bryan had to find their confidence and together they did that.

Got suggestions? Like my reviews? Let me know! Have a great day!!!!!!!

Haunted by Shirleen Davies

Haunted
Eternal Brethren Series

By Shirleen Davies

❤️❤️❤️💔
🔥
❌❌

This is book 3 in the series and focuses on Ghost. He's been recovering from a wound and is sent to a training center. Dani, the woman he spent two great weeks with and kicked out of his life, works at the center unbeknownst to Ghost.

He wants to love her but losing his fiancee keeps him walled off from love. Dani's job puts her in danger. Her stubbornness doesn't help the situation either. Ghost nearly loses it when Dani is in trouble.

These situations tend to bring perspective, don't you think. When you think you'll lose someone you love, you want to hold on tighter.

This storyline was okay, not my favorite so far. It was a little predictable, but there was steamy scenes for those who like them. There was action for those who like that. And lots of suspense. It's still a worthwhile read. Obviously, I still have it 3.5 stars.

I'm actually looking forward to the next book. It will involve a reunion I hope.

Fae Series by C. J. Abedi

Fae Series

By C. J. Abedi

Fae

❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥

This series s a fantasy romance in the world of fae. It begins with a prophecy where the dark king will fall in love with the light queen and their union will result in the unity of the two kingdoms.

Devilyn, the dark prince in this book finds out his prophecy, but he also finds out that the complete ending is the death of his beloved light queen, Caroline. He tries his best to not fall for her or let her die after he is sent to protect her.

Caroline has been hidden in the human world her entire life because she is part human. She is drawn to Devilyn when he shows up at school. She doesn't want to get to know him because he's rather a jerk to her, but fate continues to pull them together. And, just when you get excited about a relationship between them...he backs off especially after she finds out who she really is.

Devilyn does it all to protect her even if it means he can never have her. As long as she lives, he will love her from a far. And that is what leads us into book 2.

This book is tortuous with the angst and what-ifs. I wasn't even sure I wanted to read it. Fairies aren't really my thing in the world of mythological creatures. But the romance drew me in, and I wasn't disappointed. There were some grammatical mistakes I found for example using an I instead of an a within a sentence. But it didn't detract from the story. I also did some digging into the fae world and this story and characters are of the Truth DeDanan group of Celtic Fairies. The book though also included characters like mythological gods such as Odin which is Norse. It was an interesting mix. If you like more pure clans this may bother you. Other than that, I liked the story a lot.

The Dark King

❤️❤️❤️💔

This one began after Devilyn wiped Caroline's memories they shared as well as her history. He was trying to protect her, but deception is not the answer. He continues to act like a jerk by pushing her away, making her feel foolish, and pretending to have girlfriend. But then he gets mad when anyone shows her attention. Um, no buddy. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

But Odin steps in and re-reveals all to her. She's mad! I would be too! But because she loves him so much she just let's his behavior go🙄. Typical. Devilyn dad escaped his imprisonment with the assistance of Puck who is making Caroline's life difficult. Can Caroline escape her fate of death? I don't know. We'll find out in the next. But Devilyn has a lot on his plate. Some may be good for him but a lot can bring demise...

So far, the story still has me curious about the ending. It does keep you in suspense even though this one has less angst and action.

The Light Queen

❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥

The final book did not disappoint! I was stuck on my couch until I finished it! 😂 Caroline's powers as the Light Queen are growing. She was kidnapped and taken to the dark kingdom but even that can't hold her. Her love shines through as it should for all of us.

Devilyn keeps trying to keep her safe. His efforts though seem futile. His love for her is soul deep but his fear rules his decisions. It all comes to a head and the prophecy is coming at them fast.

The fae Puck has really had his hands in deep and he wields his madness on everyone.

This series was a great read. It was a coming of age story and self discovery. There were many topics to ponder from unconditional love to adoption to hope and evil. I love books that show an overcomer accomplishing more that they ever thought possible.

This is the second book of the series. Rock and Tessa have a brief history when Rock guarded Tessa during her pregnancy. After she is shot they lose touch for two years. In the meantime, Rock doesn't forget about Tessa. He chooses to stay away. He's an undercover Seal working in a motorcycle gang of other undercover Seals. He doesn't want to love anyone after he was betrayed by his brother and girlfriend after high school.

Tessa was betrayed by her fiance and work partner and doesn't like being left in the dark which is exactly what Rock does when they reunite. She also doesn't want to have anything to do with what she thinks is a legitimate job with a biker gang. He just can't tell her the truth. But you know, there always trouble and a sweet woman to be saved by a hunky man.

Shirleen writes great stories. The sexy scenes aren't overly dramatic and don't take over the story like many romances. This story has a good amount of drama too that keeps you reading.

Falling For The Wrong Guy by Sara Hantz

Falling For The Wrong Guy

by Sara Hantz

❤️❤️❤️💔

Ruby's brother's best friend betrayed him by sleeping with his ex. Unfortunately, that same night she died in a fire that Drew tried to save her from. Blake and Drew were now astranged. Blake hated Drew for his actions, and Drew hated himself.

When school starts again and Drew is back, he finds himself in class with Ruby. Ruby has always liked Drew and is a very forgiving. She tries to show him that he's not a bad person. There is lots of tension between her and her brother when he finds out about Ruby dating Drew.

This book highlights needing to forgive yourself as well as others in order to live life fully. Guilt can eat you up. But when you let go of it you have the potential to live a happily ever after.

This book is marketed under juvenile fiction. There's kissing and the mention of Drew sleeping with Blake's ex. So, I'd still only recommend it for teens. I only gave it three and a half hearts because I felt like there needed to be more interaction between Ruby and Drew. They processed their love, but there wasn't a lot of focus on their time together. Overall it was a quick read that I finished in one day.

Talon Series by Julie Kagawa

Talon
Talon Series

By Julie Kagawa

Talon
❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥

Here I go into another series! I feel like sometimes that's all that's out there. Anyway, this is another young adult series by Kagawa that I wanted to try. I LOVED the Iron Fey series by her, so I hope this one is just as good.

This series is Dragons vs Humans. There is a human group called The Order of St. George who are dragon hunters. They hope to eliminate all the dragons from the world. The dragons are trying to live incognito within human society as well as influence it.

Ember, a dragonel, is finally ready to embarked on life within humanity. She is to integrate and learn human behavior before she continues on with her specialty.

Garret, a human St. George operative is the perfect soldier until he meets Ember, his target. His training doesn't prepare him for the way she makes him feel.

Should humans and dragons fall in love??? I'm not much into that. There's a rogue dragon who, right now, seems very much into her too.

Have no fear, there's a twist! Blood vs Talon. Hmmm. I won't give any details. So far, it's an easy entertaining read. It's got young love (maybe), family drama, work drama, cute surfers, clueless humans, and a spunky main character. Let's continue...

Rogue
❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥

Ember, Garrett, and the Rogues (Riley, Wes, and 2 hatchlings) are on the road trying to escape not only the humans of St George but also Talon. Ember and Garrett are trying to figure out their feelings while Riley ignores his.

When new hatchlings are discovered a fight night bring down the entire rogue operation, and the person behind the sting wants nothing more than to bring Ember back to Talon. Talon in the other hand has many plans in the works.

This book had lots of action and we learn more about Riley and how became rogue. We also get a quick glimpse into Wes' history and how he found Riley. The duo make an awesome team. Brain vs brawn work well together to get the job done, but someone is a mole in his system letting safe houses be infiltrated.

At the end of this book, I'm happy for Riley, detest Dante, sometimes want to slap Ember, and hug Garrett. Let's all just stay away from Wes... This book also has betrayal, heartache, and fortitude. Let's keep reading...

Soldier
❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥

Well, well, well. Dante is in deep now. Shame. He could've really been a good guy, someone Ember could've been proud of, but the project he's enthralled in is wicked. Garrett took off, I don't blame him. It's awkward to love a dragon😆 especially when she has a mate she's ignoring. Then there's Riley. He's brash and abrasive, but I do like him. Ember just needs to give him a chance.

Anyway, this book follows the investigation Garret begins after he leaves Ember. He heads to London and quickly finds out an entanglement between his world's, Dragon and the Order. Who's playing whom? And how will it be resolved???

When he returns, it's all Ember can do to control her self. But the ending to this one will first bring tears to your eyes. No! This can't be happening tears. Then anger when you find out what Dante learns. Oooh, hang tight. We are onto the next!

Legion
❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥

Finally, we get lots of good action. This book is filled with it. Ember, Riley, and Garret find out about the clone army and it's purpose. All three are captured. Ember finds out who she really is and her purpose for Talon, although we know she won't stand for it. She and Riley finally talk about their feelings. St. George comes under attack and is left decimated. But Talon always thinks they will win. I'm ready for the final book!

Inferno
❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥🔥

Wow such a conclusion. This final book has two epic fights. The first is at the breeder facility where the group goes in to rescue the imprisoned breeder females if Talon. The second is the final fight to end the tyrrany of Talon. Dante sends Ember pictures of the dragon army and the location as a set up. He finally learns of the Elder Wyrm's plans for Ember. He didn't want to believe she would erase Ember's memories in order to take over her body in order to live forever. The final fight had me at the edge of my seat wondering if anyone would make it out alive. In the end everything changes is all I'll say.

These books highlighted stereotyping (dragon behavior), racial hatred (dragons vs humans), and learning to work together dispute differences. These same beliefs still plague humanity today and force us to ask ourselves if what we believe is truly what is right.

Well, that was a good series even though it took me a while to get through. If your into fantasy and dragons or even epic battles you'll like this one.

Happily Ever After by Susan May Warren

Happily Ever After
Deep Haven Series

By Susan May Warren

❤️❤️❤️❤️
✝️

Susan is really great at getting to the core of a person's feelings and how it relates to God's will for them. This is yet another story of hers that I liked.

In this story, we have a writer with the pen name Reece Clark, but his real name is Joe. Reece is a huge success in the writing world. Joe the man is a recluse though when he's not obligated to any appearances. He is a world traveler just trying to escape the shame of his family. His dad left him and his mother after his brother was born with Downs Syndrome. Joe takes off and feels obligated to financially care for his brother. Eventually, Joe the wanderer decides to go visit his brother in the small town of Deep Haven, Minnesota. There he runs into Mona.

Mona is struggling to find peace and forgiveness of herself. Opening a bookstore is her dream, but the location is a serious fixer upper. She unknowingly hired Joe, her favorite author, as a handyman to fix her new place.

I like this story a lot because it has the feels, anger, frustration, hope, angst, love, betrayal, along with misunderstandings and lies. Joe and Mona are everything each other needs but are too stuck in their past to move forward. Sometimes you just need to take the step forward.

This book has lots of great perfectly spaced scriptures and thoughtful moments. Give it a go especially if you struggle with unforgiveness whether with someone else or yourself and you need inspiration.

Just Friends by Charity Ferrell

Just Friends

Blue Beech Series, book 6

By Charity Ferrell

❤️❤️❤️❤️
🔥
❌❌

Rex asked, well bribed, Carolina to do an English paper for him in high school. She blew him off, but he was persistent. She caved but they never got around to doing the paper. Instead, they became fast friends, best friends.

Rex is a player with a girl of the week where Carolina is a preacher's daughter. They both are seriously attracted to each other, but neither are willing to compromise their friendship. Eventually in college Carolina is with a man who is a creep and tries to keep her away from Rex. Rex is always there for her, ride or die, no matter what. His strong feelings for her help pull her back when she leaves the creep. Sparks fly as they begin to test the more-than-friends waters. It isn't hard when you already have loved the person since high school.

There's plenty of steam between the two. A plot twist secret that could tear them apart. It's New Adult so expect lots of sex. That's all I ever find in this category 😂. But it's a happy ending. It also looks like each book in the series can be read as a stand alone. I liked the story and plot. I wade through the sex to get to the belly of it all. Carolina and Rex are, and refuse to acknowledge, codependent on each other. She experiences pressure from her father and needs Rex's encouragement. Rex doesn't trust relationships due to his dad's infidelity and needs Carolina to show him it's okay. I'd have liked to see her make better choices though. It's a good read.

The Library of Lost Things by Laura Taylor Namey

The Library of Lost Things

By Laura Taylor Namey

❤️❤️❤️💔
✝️

This is a Christian young adult romance but does include some foul language that might bother some Christians. The story also deals with hoarding and abandonment for those sensitive to it.

Darcy has grown up in a hoarders nest. Her mother is not dealing with several issues and unfortunately Darcy is the one keeping things together like paying bills, buying groceries, and keeping the building owner out of her apartment. One day while at work she meets Asher who is slowly recovering from an accident. Darcy only ever wants to remain hidden within her books and stay invisible, but that's hard to do when a cute boy takes notice and he happens to be kind, patient, and forgiving. He gives Darcy what she needs, the confidence to let more than just her best friend into her life. When that happens, though ugly truth about herself and her mother surface, and Darcy learns that life isn't a fairy tale. But she can write her life into the story she wants.

This one took me a while to warm up to. Honestly, it was nearly at the end. I can't say I loved it, but if you like tough love give it a try. If you love books, give it a read. Those us if that do, may have a little introverted Darcy in us.
