This romance begins with a healer Sarah finding the herbs she needs. She and her sister live with their abusive stepfather after their mother died. Sarah is to blame by her stepfather. She also feels protective of her sister. Sarah is kidnapped by a highland lord, Phillip who's brother is dying from a critical battle injury. Sarah's main focus is getting home to protect her sister from their stepfather.
This story has a romance bloom out of respect and mutual understanding. Sarah also uncovers the truth as to why Philip's brother is not improving which puts her in grave danger. This book truly focuses on her situation and less on the romance even though it's there. It was a quick clean read set in the Highlands of Scotland which I've visited. It's beautiful there and brought me back to my time exploring the landscape.
