Crave Series by Tracy Wolff

Grace moves to Alaska after her parents die. She finds out that her Uncle and cousin stay at Katmere Academy for paranormals only no one tells her that. She meets Jaxon, a vampire, who she falls for and that makes her a target. She goes through a lot in this book. It's full of suspense. I like Tracy's view of the characters capabilities. However, Grace does drive me nuts as she basically throws herself at Jaxon. She has an annoying desperation about her that bothers me even though they are mates. And she is warned so many times about the danger she's around and is SO naive it's ridiculous. How many hints can one person get and not figure it out. I will say I do love the stupid jokes between Grace and Jaxon.

Grace has returned and finds out she too is supernatural and is unfortunately stuck possessed by Jaxon's dead brother Hudson. He helps her through the many trials she faces including finding a way to remove him from her mind. She also finds out about a type of betrayal in Jaxon's part that had me mad at him too. I will say she's still naive and the banter between her and Hudson has a lot of repetition. In the end she finds herself in a game alone and the ending of this book had me saying, "I knew it!"

Well Grace is now with Hudson and Jaxon is sick. Her and her group of friends are constantly under some kind of attack from Jaxon and Hudson's father. Murder, betrayal, a prison, and deaths the group struggles with plague them throughout this book. I liked this one better than the last.

In this book there are more intimate scenes we haven't seen in this series. Also, The language has progressed to many more curse words if that bothers you. It was limited in the first book and in this one it's much more prevalent.

The final book has lots of good action. Grace is finally learning how to use her gifts simultaneously. Her friends learn to work together.

My biggest issue is she had this crown on her hand that she could've taken Cyrus's power with a simple touch and each time she's by him, she doesn't reach out. Instead she moves her friends into worsening situations. But it is a happy ever after for most of her friends.

Disclosure: In this series there's lots of supernatural elements and characters we normally forget about which amounts to (basically) race wars. There's also series language, death, and sex and inuendo.

Rising from Ashes by Rebecca Hartt

Rising from Ashes

I was given this book to help the author make final edits and am also giving an ARC review. First, this book is about Navy Seals and who doesn't love them? Second our heroine is also in the Navy which I love. This book has several great plot points; loss, grief, a bit of a mystery, lots of action, and a small bit of romance. I love the contrast between the sisters personalities as well as the vulnerability and not just strength we see in our male heros. Rebecca has done a great job with this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My only disclaimer comes right at the beginning of the book with some military death. This is a Christian based book and is a clean and wholesome read.

Crystal's Hole Heart by Heather Nicole Gifford

Crystal's Hole Heart

✝️

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review: A sweet story of three friends who were more like sisters written from each perspective. Crystal had so much love for her Lord and faith, and she was able to share that with her friends. Beautiful story. I encourage you to read this book as it's obviously a work of love.

Disclaimer: death

This one made me cry.
